Beginning approximately last March some individual(s) has been attacking cats in our
neighborhood. Here are the facts that we have so far:
Reports of the attacks started approximately last March, and have continued as recently as the week of July 4, 2010.
There have been 7-8 cats believed to have been battered using the same method. The police believe that method involves using either a baseball bat or a golf club.
The location of the beatings have been around Grandview, Beachview, and up to Wavecrest. The last reported cases were last week on Beachview.
Some of the incidents have been reported to have happened between 7-11 p.m. and most recently in the early afternoon.
Three or four cats died. The surviving cats went through major surgery and are on the mend but not without problems. The last cat we are aware of had a split pallet and a
broken leg. The reports about the other attacks involved severe head and front leg injuries.
The police are aware of this, and it has been assigned a case number. We are asking any neighbor with information about these incidents, or any future attacks, to please call the police, and then to email the information into info@sage-scneighbors.org. We want to catch this individual before this gets any worse.
